NOTES:

Portland defender Kevin Goldthwaite did not start or play but sat on the bench and could have been used as a sub. He had started the first two matches but performed below par. Needless to say the Timbers backline earned its first clean sheet of the season.

Darlington Nagbe was in uniform and sat on the bench. Looks like he is ready to go anytime now. He has been recovering from sports hernia surgery.

Youth is served. The Timbers played five players 24 years of age and under. GK Jake Gleeson (20), M Kalif Alhassan (20), LB Rodney Wallace (22), M Jeremy Hall (22), M James Marcelin (24).

The average age of the starting lineups in last nights US Open Cup match was 24.63 years for Chivas USA and 24.18 for the Portland Timbers.

Next up in the US Open Cup the Timbers travel to the Bay Area to face MLS side San Jose Earthquakes and the winner of that match gets the Chicago Fire.

In MLS play the Timbers travel for a 4:30PST match this Saturday (April 2nd) at New England (Gillette Stadium).  TV: FOX 12  Radio: (English) 95.5 FM  (Spanish) 940 AM
